IES Exam preparation tips
UPSC Engineering Services Examination, IES Exam, is among the highly competitive job entrance examinations. Every year, the exam is usually conducted in the month of May or June. The seats for which the test is conducted are fragmented into four categories – Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
The candidates are required to prepare thoroughly, in order to score well in UPSC Engineering Services Examination. IES syllabus mostly consists of Syllabus upto 3rd year of Engineering.
1. For preparation of IES exam, proper knowledge regarding exam pattern and syllabus is required. Familiarity with type of questions that can be asked in the exam also helps aspirants to prepare well.
2. Allocate your time efficiently. Make sure that sufficient time is dedicated to prepare each paper.
3. Read Newspaper and articles, watch TV news especially the morning bulletin, quiz contests, etc, surf websites in order to prepare foGeneral Ability Test section, and pay attention to grammar, in order to minimize mistakes.
4. Go through the previous years’ question papers. Compare them and see what types of questions are repeated every year.
5. Try to complete all the sections prior to time limit, so that substantial time is left for revision.
6. Prepare NCERT 9thstandard and 10 standard Geography books
7. For objective papers we recommend preparing all subjects. For Electricals communications may be difficult or for Telecommunications Material science/Power Electronics may be difficult. But prepare those subjects also at least to Basic level. If you are unable to understand B.Tech books, go for Diploma books.
8. Practice is most important aspect for preparation of IES exam.
