Students today are faced with a number of stressors, both at school and outside of it. Stress management for students includes handling schoolwork challenges, keeping up with extracurricular groups and events. Stress is not a good motivator and too much stress or anxiety decreases performance. Stress management for students is essential for maintaining a level of emotional and mental health.

There are many strategies for preventing stress, depending on the type of stressful situation we are facing.

1. Handling homework stress is a key element of maintaining stress management for students. Homework assignments typically follow them from each class, leaving them with a load to carry home each night. This can be overwhelming for students and leave them feeling burnt out. The key to managing this level of student stress is organization and planning.

2. Academic pressure can be distress if it is allowed to become such. Through stress management, however, it can be eustress that urges to greater accomplishments. In this case, stress management for students demands building on academic successes. Awarding peak performance can encourage greater academic excellence.

3. The school environment can be a distress if students are left to handle it on their own. Planned activities geared toward initial adjustment, and intermittent periods of relaxation can go far toward introducing eustress into your stress management for students.

4. Exercise is possibly the single most effective strategy for preventing stress because it converts stress chemicals into fuel. It reduces muscle tension, clears the head, and reminds us of skills that we have.

5. What you do, what you listen to, what you see and who you talk to during your day has a huge impact on the levels of stress in your life AND how able you are to deal with stress.

6. Many students naturally seek out extracurricular activities, and find them a source of eustress. Others feel pressured to engage in them, and suffer distress instead. Stress management for students requires careful selection of activities, and balance among these activities, school life, family life, and part-time jobs.

7. Parents themselves are to blame for a portion of student stress. It is well known that students, as they get older, seek greater degrees of independence from their parents. This is necessary if they are to become mature adults. At the same time, the struggle can causes great distress on both sides of the equation.

8. It is foolish to commit ourselves beyond our capabilities and capacity. If you can’t achieve, that does not definitely mean failure. Take it as an experience, which we can learn from, instead of becoming discouraged and demoralized. You cannot always be first and sometimes need to be contented with second best.

9. Sharing your problems with someone who cares often offers an emotional buffer to the stress and strains of life. Others may be able to help you look at difficult situations differently, and you may also learn other ways of coping with stress.

10. Always take up a hobby to help you relax. Do something you enjoy, be it listening to music, reading novels, watching movies, or even something physical like swimming, jogging, tennis, badminton, etc. It need not be expensive golfing or tours to other countries. You can do it at home or just in the neighborhood.

Exam preparations will vary pertaining to various kinds of examinations. The final year exams require long-term preparation, while your month tests may require preparation of a few weeks. When the exams are just round the corner and you don’t have enough time to prepare, cramming is the best option. The pressure is on and success depends on how well you are able to prepare.

Negative marking is a seen in almost every competitive exam these days. The negative marks are awarded to each and every wrong answer and ranges from 0.25 to 0.50 marks deduction. Negative marks are part of almost every competitive exam to make sure that majority of unprepared candidates are filtered out in the first phase itself. So, negative marks are integral part of every bank exam and they are unavoidable if proper planning is not done to minimize them.

Candidate who have taken bank exam previously knows the way to deal with negative marking through tried and tested outcomes of thoughtlessly ticking answers; a candidate who is taking the exam for the first time needs to take care of the methods to evade extreme negative marks.

1. First, don’t guess answer blindly, when you are not sure of majority of questions in a particular section. In such a case, if you do not take calculated risks than you will not cross the threshold for that section. his will get you eliminated straight away without leaving any hope, you have to make sure that you attempt at least 70% questions in every section.

2. Take calculated risks by analyzing the answers and mark the one you think is the closest to the right answer.

3. Make proper notes to memorize important terms, formulas and tricks that you may have derived during your practices. They help a lot at the time of execution in the exam hall as due to lack of time it’s almost impossible to think of any new techniques to solve those questions.

4. Through efficient practicing that you will be able to manage the most important resource effectively, that is time. Through firm practicing, candidate becomes able to figure out the shortcut methods that save him both the space and time that matters a lot.

5. Do not get stuck with questions you are not sure of as exam like bank PO has 225 questions that needs to be answered within 135 minutes leaving 36 seconds spent per question. Proceed to next question as soon as possible and come back if you have time.

6. Analyzing the previous question papers will help the candidate to get a clear picture of the pattern of questions asked in each section.

7. The candidate appearing for bank exam must read the question carefully to avoid marking answers thoughtlessly.

8. Be cool and calm while writing exam. Getting tensed on an unknown question or hurrying to complete the exam soon, contribute to negative marks largely.

9. Answer the question that you are confident of being correct, rather than getting stuck with a question and wasting time trying to answer it.

10. Avoid overwriting or erasing answers as it would be difficult for computers to read OMR sheets as improper erasing marks will be calculated as wrong answers leading to negative marks.

11. The ideal solution for minimizing the negative marks in bank exam is to be very precise in approach which allows the examiner to understand your position properly and even if the paper is not well answered, the examiner will believe that the candidate has a fair approach and his answers are not vague.

Level of Competition
This is the most competitive examination in India.About two lakh candidates will appear for the prelims examination for just 700 to 800 posts. This indicates the competition the examination has. In the examination, you have to compete with the gold medalists in the universities, state toppers in the 10th, 11th and 12th classes. So, an ordinary candidate has to workhard a lot to come out with flying colours in the examination. While preparing for the examination you have to remember that you are competing with the persons who have been writing the examination for over a decade or more. Finally, you should also remember that the success in the examination is not the trademark of those gold medalists or state toppers. There are some candidates who were successful in the examination with poor performance in their degree course. It is the hardwork finally that matters. Prepare with dedication adding proper planning to it.

How to start the preparation?

If you have the intention of writing the IAS examination, infact, you have to start the preparation actually from the first year of your degree. From the first year, you have to start the preparation for the toughest competitive examination in the country by reading the prominent newspapers of english and your mothertongue to get perfection in the current affairs.if you do this, you can be perfect in the current affairs part by the time you complete your graduation. Then you can concentrate on other subjects of the examination. It would be better if can be perfect in the english language. Be perfect with the subjects in your graduation so that there may be the chances of taking them as the optionals in the examination. However, actively participate in the extra curricular activities while in the college so that you can acquire the leadership qualities gradually. Further, study the NCERT books of classes 11 and 12 for the subjects of history, economics, politics, geography, science and technology, biology, etc while studying the degree course

Revision is over?
The mains examination is only a few days away from now. And i think all the candidates might have completed the revision of all the papers by this time. Now, the strategy of the candidates should be such that the revision of the subjects for which the examination takes place later in the schedule must be stopped for present. The revision of those papers for which the examination takes place in the initial days of the schedule must be done now. As the mains papers are already set by this time, reading newspapers and watching television may not be needed. But, what the candidates have to keep in mind is that if you have time, please do these things. Because, some points of the current affairs may be useful for answering some questions in General Studies and Essay papers. Be confident and free from any kind of stress. All the best.

How many hours to study?
How many hours of study is needed to clear the examination is one of the questions that haunt the candidates. The number of hours does not matter. What matters finally is how many hours you study with concentration. However, as the syllabus is huge, the number of papers you have to answer are not few, you are advised to study for atleast 11 hours in a day. Further, you have to study too many things in a day. Starting with the newspapers, watching the current affairs programs in television channels, you have to study the topics in general studies , two optional subjects and language papers. So,sufficient number of study hours are needed inorder to be at an edge over the other candidates.

All the Best
