Pulipaarvai – an LTTE saga

Kollywood is no stranger to tackling some raw and brutal topics, and this one certainly fits the bill.
The surprising thing is that such topics usually get limited to the smaller films made with niche audiences in mind or in the other extreme with some big names to carry the weight of the flick and to pull in the crowds. Rarely does it happen that we have a movie with ample budget and good production values but no star power driving the engine, so to speak.
We are talking about the upcoming flick Pulipaarvai, directed by Pravin Gandhi. Pravin made a name for himself with films such as Ratchagan and Jodi, but this is quite a departure for him too.
The film is being produced by S Madhan under the banner of the power house production company Vendhar movies.
So what’s all the bru ha ha about you ask?
Well, the story of the film is about the tragic murder of the son of LTTE leader V Prabhakaran. The role of the son will be played by teenage actor Sathya. When asked how he felt about taking on such an important role, the youngster said that he had actually fought to get the role and was happy he could finish his work according to the directions of Pravin.
The movie’s message is social and personal at the same time, and the makers of the film officially dedicate the film to “Tamilians all across the globe.”
The movie will be released with a U/A certificate and will hit the screens soon.
