Alam Ara was the first Indian Sound Film released on 14th March 1931. Alam Ara, which literally means “The Light of the World”, was directed by Ardeshir Irani and produced by Imperial Movietone. Alam Ara movie was first screened at the Majestic Cinema in Mumbai, India on 14th March 1931.



Alam Ara was a Hindi movie which starred Master Vithal, Zubeida Begum Dhanrajgir, Jilloo, Sushila, Prithviraj Kapoor in the lead roles. 

Alam Ara was written by Joseph David; Music by Ferozshah M. Mistri and B. Irani; Cinematography by Wilford Deming and Adi M. Irani; Editing by Ezra Mir. 

Original prints of Alam Ara film were destroyed and lost in 2003 after the fire at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) in Pune, Maharashtra. 

One after the next, it looks like the stunning young starlets of the south are heading to Bollywood. First there was Ileana, Tamanna Bhatia, Kajal Agarwal.. and now sweet Taapsee too makes a return to B Town?

Taapsee had made her entry into the Hindi film industry with the successful flick Chasme Buddoor, but had not signed anything since as her projects in the south had kept her busy. And projects there were many. The Aadukalam girl is waltzing through them like the star she is – Muni 3, Ganga, Vai Raja Vai…

So it came as a not so shocking development that she might be up for the female lead in another Hindi movie titled Hamara Bajaj, to be produced by none other than the actor/producer heartthrob John Abraham in association with Shoojit Sarcar.

The film will star Vj turned actor Ayushmann Khurrana in the male lead. No other details have been revealed about the movie yet.

Tapasee is currently taking a much needed break from the cine world with a vacation abroad in Athens, Greece. When reached for a comment, the bubbly diva replied that she would be all too thrilled to take on the project if they offered it to her.

Unfortunately, as of now, nothing has been put in print or signed, though the odds do seem to favour the actress.

Golden days for Tapasee indeed. It was also reported recently that she might be playing a role in the Nayantara – Simbu starrer Idhu Namma Aalu. However, nothing was confirmed in this regard and it was speculated if the Tapasee would even consider playing a supporting character now that she is in great demand as a female lead in major projects.

Kick has gone on to collect some 148.83 crores in six days! Yes! The film is fast-pacing and will in no time hit off the 200 crore club tag. And that would be some really celebratory news for the makers as well as the fans.

Salman’s Jai Ho didn’t do much business, but seems like Kick will even collect Jai Ho’s share of Box Office Collections. All are ardently waiting for Kick to hit off the 200 crore mark, which will be his first domestic entrant in the 200 Crore club!

Interestingly, there came a buzz during this flick shooting that Pawan and his team considered anchor Anasuya for this item song.

There is a debate on social media sites on the topic of why Anasuya didn’t accept Pawan Kalyan’s film offer. Later, people came to know that this lady is a pregnant at that time. Now, Anasuya is free to act in TV shows and films. Pawan Kalyan too is coming up with few flicks in future. Hence, there is chance for Pawan to give one chance to Anasuya.

The Khan whose latest outing ‘Kick’ has ingrained message of being Human in today’s world, Salman Khan has taken a pledge, to get 100 children with heart ailments treated under his organization, Being Human Foundation.

We all know how much Salman loves kids, and we also saw the glimpses in ‘Kick’. What he does for children and the brilliant work his organization does is not hidden from anyone. And now as EIDI, to his fans, Salman will help as many as 100 genuine kids with heart conditions.

“If any kids on FB ya twitter who has a heart condition n can’t afford to get it treated, BH vil (will) get 100 genuine patients treated,” Salman wrote on Tuesday.

At first, the superstar told his followers to share details on the social networking sites, but soon he realized that there would be “confusion”. Hence he shared an email address – beinghumanemail@gmail.com – to get in touch with the organization.

Rajasekhar expressed his interest to work in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s future films. He stated that he is deeply aspiring to work with Chiru. In this aspect, there are chances for this actor to act in Chiranjeevi’s 150th flick. “Will Chiru consider Rajasekhar for that prestigious project?” turned out to be the point.

If we clearly analyze, Chiru needs some tough villain to oppose him in the flick. At present, Sri Hari is not on board and the entire film industry is depending on Jagapathi Babu. If Rajasekhar gives green signal, Chiru may take him into his 150th flick as a villain. Rajasekhar has high voltage anger in his face and this can work out well as a villain. The Ilaya Thalapathy has a fan following that rivals any star’s in India, and his peers and senior in the industry too have nothing but respect for his character and humility as an actor and as a person. But there is one thing that had been said about him throughout his very successful career – that in real life, he is a very reserved and serious guy. Almost moody, some speculated.

Kick nears the 100 crore mark in 4 days!

Salman Khan’s Kick has kicked in and is making a lot of moolah in the process. Salman Khan’s EID releases are bound to mark off new records at the Box Office. And Kick has just had new records to its name.

The film was the highest opener of the year with Rs.26.50 crores, Kick just kicked off on good note. On Day 2, it garnered Rs. 27.15 crores. On Sunday, pulling the crowd towards it, it got 30.18 crores to its name. Hence on opening weekend the movie collected Rs.83.83 crores nett at the Box Office,Though on Monday, the figures dropped down, but still we it went on and made business worth Rs. 14.20 crores, taking its total in four days to 98 crores approx.

The film is bound to hit off the 100 crore mark on EID and we are hoping, there will be more and more records to his name.

Yes folks the rumour mills are ‘a buzzing’ with this news! Wondering what we’re talking about? The audio launch of Kaththi, of course!

Well, we knew the audio launch is going to be held at a grand gala in London, and it was also reported that the composer of the tunes – the young sensation Anirudh Ravichander – will be performing the songs in the soundtrack, on stage at the event. He is all set to rock the stage under the training of choreographer Shobi Master.

But now we have an update! Sources say that Vijay and Samantha, the leads in the movie, may actually perform one of the songs with Anirudh – on stage!

Can you imagine that? The fans will go crazy when that video hits the web, for sure. And let’s not forget that Vijay has also sung one song for the movie – a love kuthu song.

And guess what, he might be singing that on stage as well!

It looks like AR Murugadoss, the director and visionary, is leaving no stone unturned in making this event a spectacle worth remembering. In fact, they say once the shooting of the flick is completed, the actors and others will spent their time perfecting their performance aspects for the audio launch.

The filming is at present continuing in Chennai, and Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays the baddie, joined in today again to shoot some of his portions. In fact, the actor tweeted out his thrill at being back in Chennai with the Kaththi team for the rest of the shoot. ARM has mentioned that he hopes to wrap up the entire shoot for the film by the end of August.

Kaththi has Vijay playing dual roles and Samantha is tackling the female lead.

The film is slated for a Diwali release – October 23, to be more specific.

Young and Aggressive Hero Gopichand’s new film under the direction of Srivaas is currently under progress and the latest news is that the movie has been titled as “Loukyam”. Actress Rakul Preet Singh is pairing up with Gopichand in the movie. Earlier Gopichand and Srivaas worked together for “Lakshyam” movie and now the duo back again for this film. A new shooting schedule of the film will starts from August 5th in Paris.
Loukyam is said to be a family entertainer. The movie is being produced by V Anand Prasad under Bhvya Creations banner and Anup Rubens is providing the music. The audio of the film will be released in the first week of Spetember and the movie expected to hit the silver screens in the last week of September.

Glad tidings are here for Thala Ajith fans, once again! The star and his wife Shalini, are expecting their second child soon!

The couple were married in 2000, and it was only 8 years later that they were blessed with their first child, in 2008. The baby girl Anoushka is now six years old and Shalini, pregnant once again. Both the dashing superstar and his beautiful wife are thrilled with this development in their personal lives.

Mammootty’s Manglish released yesterday to packed houses everywhere and the reviews range all the way from stellar to just okay – but all in all, the fans are giving it a green light!

Obviously now, we cannot know which reviews are the ones to believe when it comes to a flick starring someone like the Megastar. His hardcore fans hail this as his comeback success after a string of disappointments and have been very vocal about it. In fact, many are predicting the Salaam Baappu film will be the biggest grosser of the season!

Others feel the movie is not all that it’s being jazzed up to be but is worth a watch, while some others deem the whole flick as just okay.

Where do we stand and who do you listen to? Well, after going through many reviews of the flick and varying views, we present you this balanced opinion – Manglish is an okay family entertainer and worth a watch!

The plot revolves around the fish merchant Malik Bhai (Mammootty), his family and his cronies and the catalyst to the plot that lands in his life – the foreigner Michelle.

The first part of the flick is apparently the introduction of Michelle and how everyone feels she is hiding the reasons for her presence in Kochi, leading to them wanting her to leave. The comedy and masala in this half revolves around the communication issues between Malik and Michelle among other things.

The second half shows how Michelle gets close to Malik’s family and becomes a part of his life and how he starts to like her. Of course, then follows revelations, explanations and a final resolution.

Many viewers said they were pleasantly surprised by the flick and it kept them engaged for the duration of it. None of the usual gimmicks they expected from the premise of a foreigner and a salt of the earth hero combination being the central aspect of the story, showed up in the film apparently.

Though everyone did their parts brilliantly, including Caroline Bech who plays Michelle, the film has been hailed as a one man show by Mammootty who carries the whole thing through to the finish.

Gopi Sunder’s music has been greatly praised for its feel good effects and for the catchy songs.

So it looks, on the whole, like Manglish is a success and is here to stay – good news for Mammootty fans and for Malayalam movie fans in general.

South Indian actor Siddharth Narayan got warning from Kollywood producers for posting comments on the delay in his “Jigarthanda” film release. It is known that the film “VIP” which has Danush in lead role got awesome response in Kollywood.

On this aspect, film makers of “Jigarthanda” postponed this flick for few more days keeping the roaring “VIP” in mind. Siddharth Narayan tweeted on this aspect in twitter saying that he wants to know the reason behind the delay in the film release. This flick was expected to hit the screens before 25th of this month.

Responding on his tweets, producers from Kollywood stated that the producers will have lots of internal issues during release of flick. They warned him to stay cool and to support the producer in all ways in case of film promotions till the release date.
