Kargil Vijay Diwas-26th July 1999

Kargil Victory Day- 26 July proves India’s virility. Each and every nation has its own reasons to celebrate and mourn and India is certainly not an exception to the same. Even if, in spite of being an Indian, you have remorse for the country’s humongous failure in several aspects, India’s virility, in particular, its decade-long struggles against Pakistan, has been outstanding. Whether it is the Pakistani misadventure in 1948 or in 1971 or nefarious experiments in the Khalistan struggle in 80s and the ongoing Kashmiri separatist movement, at every respect, India has emerged victorious. What is most striking, Pakistan’s en suite desire to contend against Hindu dominated India does keep on even after this! What’s of Kargil Vijay Diwas - 26 July then? Can Pakistan ever forget this thrashing? It can’t but the animosity is still unabated.

What makes Kargil Vijay diwas special?

Kargil Vijay Divas is named after the historic success of Operation Vijay. On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully could recuperate high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intruders during the Kargil invasion. It is to be noted that the Kargil war was fought for in excess of 60 days and did end on 26 July. Even though there were high losses of lives on both sides, Pakistan did suffer greater casualties along with international diplomatic humiliation.

Well, the Kargil Vijay Diwas - 26 July is not commemorated for the international diplomatic humiliation and ultimate retreat of Pakistan only. There is a greater reason than this. It is celebrated in honor of the Kargil War's Heroes who did prefer to die with their boots on.

This day is celebrated in the realm of Kargil - Dras sector and also in the national capital of India, New Delhi. Here the Indian Prime Minister pays homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate every year.

Kargil Vijay Diwas - 26 July proved yet again that a soldier never quits till his death and India never pardons assailants.
