Asian Games or Asiad is a multi-sports event held every 4 years among athletes from all counties on the Asian continent. Asian games is regarded as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. The first Asian Games was held in New Delhi, India in 1951. Earlier the sports event was organised by the Asian Games Federation (AGF), however since 1982 Asian Games, the games is regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
Only 9 countries have hosted this multi-sports event, until the recent 2010 Asian Games (16th Asian Games or XVI Asiad). Of which, Thailand has been the venue for Asian Games for four times. India has hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The 17th Asian Games is scheduled to be at Incheon in South Korea in 2014.
