Guernica is a painting by Pablo Picasso, a famous painter and sculptor from Spain. Pablo Picasso most renowned work was the Guernica painting, he portrayal in response to the German bombing of Guernica in Basque Country in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. The Guernica painting by Picasso portrays the tragedies of war and the sufferings of innocent peoples due to the bombing by Germany. Through the painting, Picasso wanted to the world’s attention to sufferings and losses of innocent civilians in the Basque town of Guernica. Pablo Picasso completed the mural by mid June 1937 and the Guernica painting was first exhibited at the Paris International Exposition in the 1937 World's Fair in Paris.
The original Guernica painting is now displayed at the Museo Reina Sofía, Spain's national museum of 20th century art in Madrid, Spain.
