The first Marine National Park in India is located at Gulf of Kutch in Jamnagar district of Gujarat. Established in 1982, the Marine National Park is comprised of 42 islands on the Jamnagar coast with majority of them surrounded by reefs.
The best known island in the marine sanctuary is Pirotan. Among the fauna found at Marine National Park Jamnagar include wide species of Hard and Soft Corals, prawns, crabs, endangered sea turtles, molluscs, sea mammals and terrestrial birds.
