Based in Japan, Jidosha Seizo Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. was established in Yokohama, Japan, in 1933. In the following year, the company changed its name to Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. In 1940, Nihonbashi, Tokyo was chosen the location for the headquarter of the company. Later on, the company's name was rechristened to Nissan Heavy Industries, Ltd. After nine years, the company regained its old name - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. The company commenced its operations in 1959 at Yulon Motor Co., Ltd. in Taiwan.
