Hi friend are you planning to do M.Tech via PGECET? Then this post is especially for you only. Those who are not related with this please kindly skip this post.
Let us discuss with frequently asked questions related to PGECET and M.Tech.
What is the advantage of doing M.Tech?
Dear friend! You see lot of B.Tech students are coming out from colleges every year. Particularly in the state of AP this count is even more. If you have M.Tech then there is an added advantage for you. Since you have PG you may get preference in Job selection some times. (I am not sure and I can’t give 100% guarantee).

If you are planning for Teaching then no doubt M.Tech is must for you. According to new norms by AICTE in order to get a job as Assistant Professor in any engineering college B.Tech and M.Tech degree with first class (either in B.Tech or M.Tech) is necessary. So doing M.Tech is must for you.
If you are interested in research and also in Ph.D then also M.Tech degree is very important for you.
I already got an offer in software company. Is M.Tech useful for me?
Frankly speaking if you are not interested in Teaching or research then no need of going for M.Tech at all. I recommend to join the company. Maximum number of software companies doesn’t give much weight-age to PG. As per my knowledge B.Tech/M.Tech is treated as same in MNC.

Why go for PGECET?
Generally PG admission is done via GATE or GPAT. But due to lack of GATE qualified candidates, APSCHE conducts PGECET to fill up the vacant seats left after admitting the GATE students in PG prtograms. If you are already qualified GATE, then you are lucky. Otherwise you have to take PGECET to get admission in post graduate program in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Will I get scholarship if my admission is via PGECET?
Generally GATE qualified students are eligible for getting a stipend of Rs.8000/- granted by MHRD. But PGECET students don’t get any stipend benefits. Don’t worry! AP government will provide fee reimbursement for candidates whose income is below certain standard set by government time to time.

How to prepare for PGECET?
Friend PGECET exam starts from June 8 2012. You are having plenty of time. So start from today onwards. Be strong in basics and formulas. Go through all the core subjects. At first refer the PGECET syllabus and then choose the books depending on the topic. Your B.Tech books works great here. I will provide info and recommendation wherever necessary. Since the question paper is similar to GATE (not that much tough as GATE), try to get GATE previous papers and practice them. Also lot of study material is already available in market.

Any books available for PGECET preparation?
Many students are asking for book names which may be helpful for PGECET preparation. I am not sure that the following books will be 100% helpful. But consider them if you have no time to go through the official reference books suggested by B.Tech curriculum.

How much rank is necessary to get seat in a good college?
APSCHE already mentioned in the notification itself that PGECET students will be called for counseling after filling the seats by GATE qualified students. So there is very less chance of getting seat via PGECET in good college like university campus unless you have reservation. Just for a rough estimation I can say that for CSE/ECE students belonging to General aim for below 100 rank.

Where can I get previous papers of PGECET?
Sorry friend. Previous papers are not available officially. In GATE after the exam is over student can carry question paper to home. But in PGECET you have to hand the question paper also to the invigilator
. That’s why I am unable to publish any previous paper. Anyway I will try to present some sample questions I can remember and collected through Internet via separate post. You can also subscribe to our email alerts so that I can send stuff directly to your inbox.
