GATE Cutoff for NIT

This post is for those students who are going to apply for CCMT 2012. This post will be helpful in finding last year cutoff for various NITs, so that a rough prediction (not accurate  ) can be done this year.

Since many students are asking me whether they can get a seat in NIT or not based upon their score, I thought a analysis regarding previous year cutoff for NITs will be helpful for all. But the task is not that simpler. All official NITs doesn’t have any data regarding previous year cutoff in their institutes (except a few).

So I mainly gathered data from friends to find out what is the cutoff for NITs in the year 2011. Of course I also considered cutoff for the year 2010 also because official sites are helpless in finding the cutoff for the year 2010.

For top NITs like NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy and NIT Suratkal for getting admission into Computer Science and Engineering an open Category person have to get minimum 550 GATE score, where as for OBC the minimum GATE cutoff is 500 and for SC/ST it is around 350. (rough estimation, this is not accurate)

For ECE branch General category person required at least 550 GATE score and OBC person requires 530 and for SC/ST the cutoff is 300. (rough estimation, this is not accurate)

NOTE: The above analysis is from the GATE cutoff for the year 2009, since official data is not available for the previous year i.e. cutoff for the year 2010. Also I just averaged the cutoff, considering all the top 3 NITs. Please don’t treat this information as accurate. It is useful for just getting a rough idea about how NITs GATE cutoff varies. NIT cutoff is just like exit polls. You can’t predict this year admission cutoff based on last year cutoff. But still this serves just as a rough idea (estimation).

But for NIT Jaipur the previous year cutoff is available in the official website itself. Here is the complete analysis regarding MNIT Jaipur last year 2011 cutoff. (This data is accurate)

For CSE department OC requires at least GATE score 603. OBC requires minimum GATE score 526. SC requires 367 and ST requires 294.

For ECE department OC requires at least GATE score 570 to get into MNIT. OBC requires minimum GATE score 483. SC required at least GATE score 431 and ST requires to get at least GATE score 320 to get into MNIT.

The above MNIT cutoff is reproduced from the file I gathered from official MNIT website itself. So you can trust this data is very accurate  .

I am in process of collecting accurate information regarding other NITs also for the year 2011, so that it may be helpful to you all. If possible you can also help me in this so that we can collect exact information in less time.
