NIT Student bags Rs.1.34 Crore Package from Facebook


This year regarding to campus placements, a student from National Institute of Technology Allahabad created a record by getting an offer from Facebook with a package of Rs.1.34 crore per annum .
According Director of the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), a B.Tech student from the institute, who has requested that his name be withheld due to security reasons, received a letter on March 27 from Facebook confirming his appointment and the annual pay package on offer was stated to be USD 262,500 around Rs 1.34 crore in Indian currency.
The student is appointed as a software engineer, he is going to join the company in Menl Park, California, in October 2012.
The selection process of the student started in October last year through an email. Belonging to a middle-class family, the boy had to appear for nine telephonic interviews before being selected.
The MNNIT press and media relation officer, Dr Tanuj Nandan, said this was the highest annual package offered to any B.Tech student of the 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in the country so far.
Last year a student of NIT, Karnataka, was recruited by Facebook at an annual package of Rs 60 lakh. Also a student of NIT Warangal got a package of Rs.45 lakh per annum last year. But thus time this student broke all the previous records.
