How to report a Fake/Impostor profile?

If someone is impersonating you or someone else, go to his/her profile page an click on “Report/Block this person” link on the left bottom of the page.

Then check the “Report this person” box and use “impersonating you or someone else”. Enter the Impersonated profile link in the box given there and add required comment which is mandatory too.Finally click submit.

However if someone is using fake profile name then just use “Using a fake name” option in the report type and add comments in “What makes it fake” box, click submit.

Facebook's most recent effort to keep mobile users perpetually engaged on its services has been to diversify its app offering. The move has given rise to services such as Paper and Messenger, which are direct offshoots of its main 'Big Blue' app. Now the company is ready for phase two of promoting use of its dedicated apps, starting with turning off the ability to send messages through the main Facebook app.

The company has confirmed that “in the next few days” it will begin notifying users that if they want to send and receive Facebook messages, they will need to download the Messenger app. First to be affected by the change will iOS and Android users, with no word on the change being made for Windows Phone just yet.

"As we've said, our goal is to focus development efforts on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience possible and avoid the confusion of having separate Facebook mobile messaging experiences,” said a Facebook spokesperson, according to a TechRadar report.

Facebook claims it already has over 200 million active monthly users of its Messenger app, and the move should accelerate the adoption of the service. The move makes perfect sense in keeping with the company's new mantra of providing a standalone experience.

Through the move, the company is hoping to boost the amount of time users will spend across its service, bolstering its efforts of getting them to view ads and maybe even buy things. Using Messenger will also simplify chatting with your Facebook friends, especially if you hate all the other functions the social network offers.

Facebook. Shares of the social network are up 7% -- double its IPO price of $38 -- as mobile ad revenue continues to spur growth. The company reported a 61% bump in revenue and more than doubled its profit during the second quarter. Meanwhile, mobile advertising revenue skyrocketed 151% compared to the same time last year.

Nokia. The sale of its handset business to Microsoft seems to be paying off. Shares of Nokia are up 7.5% after boosting its forecast on profit for the year, AP reports. Although revenue dipped during the second quarter, profit jumped 20%. The company closed its deal to sell its handset unit to Microsoft for more than $7 billion in April.

Amazon. The online retailing titan reports second quarter earnings after the markets close, just as its first entry into the smartphone market makes its debut. Amazon is predicted to report a loss of 15 cents per share off $19.3 billion in revenue, according to estimates compiled by Bloomberg.

Pandora. Shares of the streaming music service jumped 1.6% ahead of its second quarter earnings announcement Thursday. Analysts expect quarterly revenue of $218 million with an earnings per share of 3 cents.

Twitter. The social media company becomes the latest tech firm scrutinized for a lack of diversity after releasing workforce figures Wednesday. In the U.S., nearly 90% of Twitter's employees are white or Asian, while men make up 70% of all staff.

People who consider using Facebook as an antidepressant, think again as a recent study has proved that using Facebook makes you feel more 'pitied' about yourself.

Christina Sagioglou and Tobias Greitemeyer of the University of Innsbruck in Austria, who co-authored the new study, revealed that compared to browsing the Internet, Facebook is judged as less meaningful, less useful, and more of a waste of time, which ultimately leads to a decrease in mood, the Huffington post reported.

The researchers had conducted two experiments. While in the first test, they asked participants to indicate the time they'd spent on Facebook that day and rate their mood, in the second experiment, which had different participants, they asked one group of people to spend 20 minutes on Facebook by posting status updates, conversing with pals and scanning their News Feeds, and another group to spend the same amount of time just browsing through the internet without opening any social media sites. Meanwhile, a third control group was left to do as they pleased with no instructions at all.

The Austrian researchers found people feel crummy any time they're on Facebook for too long, no matter what pops up, and Sagioglou said that it wasn't surprising that people felt bad after doing something they didn't consider very meaningful, as it actually accounted for the mood effects, but people continued to do such tasks due to "affective forecasting error."

The research is published in the journal Computers in Human Behavior.

Washington, July 30: Social networking site Facebook has launched a new app called 'Mentions' for Facebook-recognised or verified celebrities to help them manage their public figure pages.

"We are introducing Facebook Mentions, a new Facebook Creative Labs app that makes it easy for public figures to talk with their fans and each other on the go," Facebook said.

It could make it simpler for celebrities to manage their Facebook account by viewing posts that mention them.

The app is designed to allow 'actors, athletes, musicians and other influencers' to chat with their fans, reply to messages, take part in live chats and post updates -- without seeing newsfeeds, quizzes and ads.

Facebook Mentions also shows a timeline of posts that refer to the particular user.

Verified users can create new posts and also host live Question & Answer sessions within the app.

The Mentions app is currently available only in the US, but Facebook plans to roll out in other countries and verified profiles in the coming months.

Meant for iOS users, the app is available for download on Apple App store.
